Default 94-96 corvette ASR differences???

Are there any? I ask because having recently driven a 96 and causing the ASR to kick in I noticed it does a much better job than the one in my 94. My 94 kicks back on the gas pedal, causes the motor to miss and skip, Bangs on the back brakes, and is just generally useless. The 96 interface was much smoother, doing a fine job of creating a feeling of just dialing back the power in a more reasonable and much less perceptible manner. So has mine always been broken or was there a programming upgrade in between? Can I upgrade the 94 to the 96 specs?
Thanks
Roy

I know there was a change to the ASR/ABS system starting with the '95 model year. I think it is both hardware and programming, however, I don't have the detail on what was changed or the effect of those changes.

Perhaps some others can detail the changes.
