Default Door Ajar Switch Part

Good Afternoon All:

I am having an issue where each time I hit a heavy bump the "door ajar" sign comes on. In addition to this the interior lights come on. My mechanic states that the part has been discontinued via GM and his parts guy. Anyone know how i can fix this issue or anywhere i can get parts?

DANKE! Chris

Mid America has them! They were out of stock everywhere last year but someone must have re run the production as most places can get them now.

We need a year. The switch changed from this:

to this:

These switches are available from the usual Corvette parts vendors.

GM # 10098478 which can be used as a reference # at most of the resellers or even eBay.

Have you tried a little WD-40 yet? They will stick sometimes.

You can try taking out the plunger and putting a couple of small o-rings on the back side of the plunger, then put the plunger piece back in the switch.

I don't remember the size. But you'll want an o-ring that fits snug on the plunger shaft, but the outer diameter of the o-ring is same size or slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the head of the plunger. You'll want to still be able to push the plunger inside the housing. Saw someone mention a #60 o-ring size.

You can try one at first. But if you still get some Door Ajar lights, can add on a 2nd one.

- I know the OP has a later model, but I freed up the ones on my 85, with a multi-purpose lube. seemed to work OK. I would have liked to upgrade the 85's, but with the newer parts, and the wiring adapters, I was looking at around $100 for both doors.
