Default C4 K memeber on 56 Nomad

Hi all,, I have a 56 nomad with aftermarket chassis that uses the all corvette suspension including Corvette rack and K member. I was told to install an LS motor id have to cut off 2 of main brackets off of the K member. Is this true? I find it odd that there isn't a c4 to ls motor mount. Ive looked also in the corvette forums but have had no luck. any advise?

I've seen it to be maybe the opposite but it does get debated. It seems that most LS adapter brackets are done to accommodate the earlier engine bracket/mount configuration. What year of a k-member do you have? If it's an L98 member from '91 or earlier then I believe you'll find the greatest assortment of adapter brackets. There are many, some are adjustable some aren't. I believe I've seen adjustable discussed in some of the '55 - '57 discussions.

This is an early '84 to '87 member and you can see the mounting ears I believe you mention. There are adapters that allow you to use the mount to engine with a pass-through bolt to this type. Years ago there were LS swaps that used sandwiched mounts from I believe MOPAR that required the removal like you mentioned and welding.

This is typical of the LS adapters that allow you to use the early SBC mount for the style k-member I believe you have.

That style of adapter is meant to be used with this style of a mount:

It's not a cut and dried install sometimes, there's interference with balancer, pulley etc.

I just linked some very generic style bracket and mount. There are maybe 8 - 12 versions of the adapter.

Thank you for your response. I guess it will depend greatly on where the firewall land when i drop the body back on.

IIRC I have read about this swap on the tri-5 forum. Do not have time find the specific thread, suggest checking here:
