What size are the rear lowering bolts?
Anyone know the size of the rear bolts used to lower the car?
I am looking at ordering a set of 11" but I need to know the size first.
Thanks!

The rear lowering bolts from the Corvette suppliers are 10" in length which I installed and with a full tank of fuel, the rear measurement is 26 3/4" from the ground to the top of the wheel well. The lowered front measures 26".
I wanted the rear of my 91 Vette lower so, after searching here on the forum, a member posted that he found these 11" bolts from Fastenal. I ordered the 11" bolts and matching nylon lock nuts from Fastenal.
The bolts are Metric 8.8 which is equivalent to a Grade 5 bolt strength, which is plenty strong for this application.
Here are the sizes and specs:
M14-2.0 x 280mm (11" length) 8.8 Plain Cap Screw. (SKU) 38997 $7.79 each.
Or, if you wanted a longer bolt...
M14-2.0 x 300mm (11.8" length) 8.8 Plain Cap Screw. (SKU) 38998 $21.86 each.
Also, here are the Nylon Lock Nut specs and part number:
M14 x 2 Zinc Plated Class 10 Steel Nylon Insert Lock Nut. (SKU) 11508309 $0.45 each.

Or if you don't mind using SAE Standard thread (Fastenal might actually stock these).
(2) 9/16-12x10" P/N 15283 $4.39 each
(2) 9/16-12 Nylock Nut P/N 1137189 $1.75 each
These are grade 8 fasteners, and are slightly bigger than the 14mm (1/2") factory hardware.

Also note that aftermarket bolts won't have the hole drilled thru the bolt body. The OEM bolt uses a castle nut and cotter pin to hold it in place.
Use a nyloc nut for these lowering bolts. Once you have the ride height set using a standard nut, mark the threads above the nut with paint. Then remove the standard nut and replace with the nyloc nut and bring the base of the nut even with the paint mark.

Ny-Loc Pre-Check
Thanks for the reminder, C4 cruiser. I purchased the bolt kit from one of our after-market suppliers well over 6 years ago. I finally acquired 18" wheels for the rear and I now want to lower the rear end about 1/2 - 3/4". I learned about your height adjustment pre-check from this forum back then but forgot about it.
