1988 - pop noise when i first crank from cold start
iv noticed the last few times I goto start my 88 from a cold start, where its been sitting a few days or more I get this pop noise from the right side of the engine alomost like if it was a backfire -
what should I be looking into -
has afr heads - cam - new plugs and plug wires , almost everything is newer
its like a pop then stalls , then I restart and it does fine -
thanks all

new starter
its has a new starter in it , I put a new started in it because I though my started was causing a problem where randomly I would be driving the car stop somewhere and when I goto restart it nothing, no clicking or anything , light dash everything works just wont even turn over -
so that didn't fix that problem , but I had a mechanic tell me it might have something to do with the stock security system or something , anyone else have this problem as well ?

dont think vats would cause a pop
but vats does cause no crank/turnover with dash all lit up and security light on while doors closed. had that on my 87. google vats bypass and search this forum.
but about the pop....like what type of pop? air compression pop? electrical sounding pop? never heard of a pop being used as a descriptor since ive been following this board.
subbed.
