LS1 swap
Hello
I had a thread about this before but had a few more questions. I have an 87 Corvette and was wondering how to get all of the gauges to work including mpg? I do have all of the main components of the engine ECM, wire harness. Also how would I use this engines a/c compressor because my a/c doesn't work so I thought of just using this engines a/c. I have never done this type of project before.

Start with this thread. Thanks CH@0s It has a lot of info. All the gauges will work, except the MPG gauge. I used the sending units (oil, temp) for my 86. I brought a new temp sending and had it milled down and threaded to fit the LS head. You can drill and tap the LS head for the sending unit also.

Burning Brakes
For the MPG systems you need to use the factory ECM/PCM. When I was looking for a coolant temp sensor for the gauge I asked at the local NAPA after making a phone call I had a sensor that is supposed (have not installed it yet...I need to be less lazy) to bolt into the LS heads, and match the LT1 resistance so the gauge will work correctly. I'm not sure if there is a resistance difference between the 87 and 93 temp sensors, but I can get the part number later if it is wanted.

Melting Slicks
Never heard of anyone getting the MPG to work. As I understand it, the MPG is calculated by the original ECM based on what it's telling the fuel injectors & all of this is invalid, if functional at all, with the new engine/ecm.
