dual mass flywheels are really hard to come by...

However, these clutches do engage high on the pedal, that's actually rather normal.

Test the clutch. Put the transmission in 4th, then ease out the clutch. Does it bite and go? Then you are fine.

I would swap clutch fluid and transmission fluid (Amsoil makes a good product) and be done with it. And never take it back to that shop again.
