Default hp from afr 210 on lt1 383

Im upgrading the heads on my 383 lt1 and I was wondering how many hp can I get from the afr 210s I was hoping to get 500 to the tire any suggestions on what would get me there or is there a different head I can use for less money.

The 383 I built for 93 ragtop made over 460RWHP thru a 3000 stall unlocked. I used a very mild cam and went pretty conserative on compression so that it would have good driveability.

My personal 383 in my 92 6spd made 487RWHP. It ran well but I was never able to make it 100% right IMO... still had enough power to run some 11.0s@128mph on radials... leaving like grandma so it wouldn't break the rearend. I have a lot better handle on how to control the valvetrain with the cam lobes Mike Jones grinds now than I did back in 2008 when I built this engine so I know when I get the time to re do it, I can fix the problems I have with it.

The AFR 210s have the capability to break 500RWHP in a 6spd LTX C4 but make no doubt - It'll be a serious piece.

I was going with the xfi 280 and 58mm tb. I have an a4 with 3500 stall 3.73 gear maybe 4.10 later. Do you think a single plane nd monoblade are worth it or should I stay with the dual plane. Im not really going to drive it much so it doesn't have to be the most streetable also do you think I will need a custom grind cam or is there a gud off the shelf cam I can use.

On the cam, I custom grind to what I want on every serious engine I build. Theres already enough compromises in building an engine, and custom grinding to the valve events the engine needs helps minimize them.

I have never seen a XFI280 cammed engine come close to the power or track performance of 93 ragtops car.... his cam is very similar from first glance at the numbers... that ought to tell you something.

A good single plane is going to have a stronger and more explosive TQ curve under peak HP than the LT4 intake. From my experience overall power capability is similar until you get past 550 up into 600+ where a single plane is the best choice.

I'd be glad to help you get a cam.

How much compression does the engine have now and how did you get there.... what pistons, chamber size, head gaskets ect does it have?

What rockers does it have? Ratio and brand.

How much stall converter, rear gear does the car have. Edit, I see 3500 stall and 3.73 or 4.10 gear.

Do you want to stay with a hyd roller or are you willing to use a mech roller?

Right now I have stock ported lt1 heads stock cc. Iv got flat top pistons with two valve reliefs wen I did the math it came out to be 11:1 and when I ran a compression test had 225 psi. I would like to stay hydr roller bt I understand that I will loose a few horses in the high rpm

Will - When you say "very mild cam and went pretty conservative on compression", could you be more specific? I'm in the process of having my base LT-1 stroked to 383 with a lot of other modifications, so I'm curious what cam and compression you used in that particular motor.

Thanks ..... WS

Compression is 11.25 SCR.

Cam is
280/284@.006
232/236@.050
.360/.360 lobe lift
108 ICL on 112 LSA

Build thread here.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c4-tech-performance/3057610-the-build-of-my-new-motor.html

His car went 11.19@124mph first time out.... I don't remember exactly what the 1/8th mile ETs were that day but the next few track days he was at an 1/8th mile track and the car was quite a bit faster than that first 1/4 mile day.... then he busted some U Joints and after that killed the tranny..... hes just managed to get the new tranny in it so it'll be next season until we take it back.
