Default MAF Burnoff -- What it Looks Like

I've been wanting to do this for a while and finally did it. I have a spare MAF (the original one that came on my car in 1985) with the screens removed. I hooked it up to my power supply and simulated a MAF burnoff to capture the red glow of the sensor wire:



MAF burnoff is done after the ignition is turned off. The ECM must be in closed loop mode, so you can't just turn the ignition on and off to see this. I checked my burnoff by disconnecting my air filter and then putting a small mirror in front of the MAF and then turning off the ignition. You have to be watching closely because the burnoff only lasts for a second or so and it's easy to miss it.
