Default crushed fuel return lines?

Hi guys. I am wrapping up my 85 bright red coupe

repairs and i have a question regarding the fuel lines.

I THINK these are the fuel tank return lines (why are there 2?).

This is a pic of a previous owners mistake of putting a jack here and crushing these lines.

so,

1. what lines are these? What do they do? do i need to fix? i was going to use rubber hose.

2. what would the symptoms be from the current condition?

im asking because i have a hesitation off the line (only in overdrive) and also the car seems to be running rich (exhaust burns my eyes).

wondering if these are linked.

ideas?

these 2 lines are rear driver side and smell fuelly.

they appear to have been crushed probably by a jack.

Thats your fresh fuel and return lines. need to be taken care of. I dont think they are causing your engine trouble. Fix and find out.

thnx enema. just to be clear, this is driver side, rear, right by the parking brake equalizer adjuster. the fuel supply line with the in line fuel filter is up under the passenger feet area.

i am just mentioning thus because you called one a "fresh" line.
Is that right? seems strange for a fresh line to be there when the filter is under the passenger side.

I thought the brake lines were on the drivers side, and the fuel lines were on the passenger side.

i'd follow them across the car....could be from your charcoal cannister in the front...doubt you car would even run with open crack in the lines.

I believe only brake lines have the spiral protectors on them.

Not necessarily -

The OP's car is an '85 so there's no ABS. I believe if the OP checks further one pipe will be 3/16 and the other is 1/4. The 3/16 will be a brake line and go to a fitting that supplies both the left and right rear. The other the 1/4 will be the fuel vent pipe. I believe the fuel vent line is on the left side for many years until the canister was moved to the rear.

they are the fuel supply and return lines, just changed/replaced the return on my 90. I used rubber fuel injection rated 3/8 hose for the return. ran it from the return connection on the fuel tank, down and along to where the ruptured line section was. I removed the ruptured section along the bottom of the car.

On the LEFT SIDE there is NO fuel supply or return. Supply and return for fuel is on right side all year C4's.
