Default changine valve cover gaskets on 1996 c-4

Hello again:

Time for the next project, valve cover gasket replacement.
everything looks pretty straight forward, except removal of the
fittings in the exhaust manifold, coming from the air pump.

Appears to be a 7/8. Is there a special tool for this?

Appreciate your help Putz

While I have all of this tubing off, plan to take advantage of the
space and do the spark plugs and want to take a stab at the
seal for the auto trans filler tube. All advise is appreciated.

Well, totally out of the box, why dont you ditch the AIR system? If you dont have EPA in Hotlanta, I wouldnt hesitate. You clean up the engine bay considerably and you will always have great access to plugs, valve covers and more. My avatar shows the LH side and illustrates my point. I also have eliminated my EGR as well. I am not sure if the EGR was tuned out on my L98, scan tool says off so no codes there. The AIR elimination did not cause any codes or issues either.

You need to research my suggestion more as your car is OBDII and an LT1 or 4 so it isnt exactly like mine. If you can do the AIR elim you will be much happier and make life easier.

Good luck!

The only thing that's really in your way for removing the valve covers is the alternator. However, if you remove one bolt and losen the other it will pivot out of the way. No need to take any of the other stuff off.

This, of course, is just for the valve covers.

Thank you. Been thinking about doing the covers recently.
This is the information I've been wondering about, now I know.
