Default 84 with only 49,000 for sale how do I be sure

Fouind a 84 for 3000.00 says it has only 49,000 on it. I talked with the guy hes real talkative laid back seems honest. How can I be sure?

Could be something was bad wrong with it for a while?

Or the odometer was changed?

Probly nothing wrong with it. Corvettes are toys for a lot of folks and not driven much. Do as suggested and look for mileage listings on maintenance records.

Look for commensurate wear on carpet, controls, etc. With only 49k, they should all be quite nice, if faded, but neither worn-through or worn out.

Since its an automatic, I did ask about the condition of the brake pedal pad.

Seemed like it made him pause lol

Says he put in a new interior because someone had left the roof off and it smelled like it had mold.

Definitely check all the electrnoics and make sure they work if its had a lot of moisture in the interior. If its been well maintained low miles is good. If not who knows what it could need. Been sorting through low mile cars for months they are either cherrys or roaches.

You can do an online vin check and find mileage history. Wether it was rolled back a little along the way? Could have been.

IMCO you really can't be 100% sure of the mileage. You will need to look over the car carefully. I feel with any Corvette you are paying for condition more than anything else. Does 5 - 10 - 20 miles one way or the other really matter if the car is clean, well maintained, runs, and drives right?

A 30 year old car with less than 50,000 miles shouldn't be that big of a project unless it was not well cared for. If it's super cheap and you're willing to take chance, dive in. If you're skeptical already, just move on.

They aren't rare. You can find another one.

Im a little skeptical of the mileage in fact the gauges could have been replaced. But he wants $3000 and I think he will take 2600. So Im thinking about selling mine and getting his.

One thing I dont like is he said the exhaust is real loud. I dont want that and dont know what was done to the exhaust or how much that could cost to get the way I want it.
