Questions on My 1988 Vette
Hey all I just purchased a 100% stock 1988 Vette with 72000 miles. I thought I knew L98's pretty well until I opened the hood.
What is this big disc bolted to the water pump pulley?
What temp should the electric fans turn on? Mine was at 220 and it had not kicked on. Thought it was a little hot for alum. heads?
Thanks for the input and glad to be back in the Vette world, my last one was a 1978 years ago.
Thanks

Safety Car
The big disc is called a frisbee. It is there to ease belt tension variances when you turn on the a/c. Its not really needed. I think 220 is ok, IIRC rthe fans turn on at 228*.

Search frisbee on here, but its not usually on the water pump.
226 deg on the fan, then off at 216; mine has been dead on those numbers for 28 years.
Congrats BTW...sweet ride.

Drifting
I took my Frisbee off and got shorter bolts to re install the pulley. I race my 90 once in awhile at Englishtown and seems the car was quicker when it was hot then after a long cool down between rounds. Took a while for my fans to kick on. Then I installed a toggle switch to turn the fans on manually. Good luck with your ride. Pipe
