Another positive for the TPIS headers is that the extended bosses for the header bolts allow all the factory accessory brackets to be reused. I used Hookers and had to fab brackets for the alternator and AC. Mine is a L98, so I'm not sure if the same holds true For LT1 cars, but I would assume so.

Default TPIS Headers

To those who have/had the TPIS headers, did you get the ones with the "baked-on metallic-ceramic coating"? If yes, did you notice the engine compartment being any cooler or less heat being radiated from the headers?

Yes i did.

You want this.

Even with the coating, i still could feel heat coming thru the firewall.

my arh headers that i run now are swain tech coated which imho is a better coating than the jet hot? That tpis had put on them

You'll definitely SEE the melting plastic otherwise.
Plus, the headers work better with the thermal containment!

Is wrapping over kill for an engine with only bolt-ons or do whatever it takes?

Wrapping, IMO, is an alternative that I used with good success, but I also used the wrap paint.

Many will decry wrap, but my result was fine, without destroying the headers tubes, too. Downsides to the wrap: it makes reaching the header bolts more difficult; deteriorates over time and is less gorgeous.

the heat is from the headers with or without other mods.
