Default Super Ram Question

Hello all my first performance question here...

Looking to get my Super Ram ported.

Is it worth it or put it on and use it as is?

Get it hand ported or Extrude honed?

Who is the best at it?

Going be sized to the FelPro 1204 gaskets. Lingenfelter ported 113 heads on the motor.

Thanks

Burt

Lingenfelter advised me not to waste the money. Kinda hurt my feelings!

The SR will flow air very well and if used with 113 heads would be a waste of time and money to port them. Spend your money on a better set of heads.

Ahhhhh thanks Well that isn't really bad news at all...Being the money I been throwing at the car already the past couple months. Saving a few bucks is great...

The goal is run 11.80 so I can play in some open comp racing and some 12.00 index.

Making the car safe...constant and able to dial Needing the snow to melt here so I can get out with it.

You can get well over 400 hp with ported 113 heads... At least I did (but with Stealth Ram instead of Super Ram)

And if I understood correctly, the OP already has the ported heads. And all porting, when done correctly, helps the airflow. To see the best benefits, you have to port the most restrictive part. I have no idea, whether Super Ram flows out-of-the-box more than ported 113 heads.

Correct... Lingenfelter did the top end of the engine with flow benched ported heads, 2.00 1.56 valves, ported GM lower and upper manifold, large tube runners, cam, 1.6 rockers..and all the rest of the top end goodies. Oh and the JLR headers and Borla exhaust too.

I have a complete Super Ram set up with the Accel lower base and 58mm TB

I would like to find 400-420 HP...1.2 HP per cubic inch should be obtainable out of this package.

The bill from Lingenfelter doesn't list the cam part number...so one day I have to do a measurement on it to find the ball park of the specs. I know it is a flat tappet cam in the original '85 block. Lopes pretty good too.

Same, untouched but with 52mm TB and the car pulls hard on this 409 SBC from its 900RPM idle to 6300 fuel shutoff. I have surprised many newer Vettes in friendly runs; specifically, C6 Z06s only slightly outpull me and my 3.54 gears..

I'm using a non-ported super ram on my 396 with AFR 195 heads. I'm not sure I would get much more out of it by porting.

On a 1204 gasket with 113 head, I would not spend the money on Porting the SuperRam.

Vic I am not really sure of the gasket size. I have not had the lower manifold off yet, but I don't think the ports would be as big as the 1205 gaskets.

1205 gaskets are a little too big. I tried them and had gasket leaks. I think you would need to add metal to the manifold to make them work. I use 1256 gaskets. They fit the Super Ram and can be trimmed to fit the AFR 195 heads.

Thanks... I wasn't aware of that part number. I will look at the dimensions of those and see if they fit in to my plan.
