Excellent video Ozz. Thank you for taking the time and sharing with the us.

Did you have to burp the cooling system after topping it off? Or is it self-burping?

I will buy the parts today and start this weekend.

I think I will reroute the coolant lines to bypass the TB.

Our cars are practically twins -- same year, same color exterior and interior.

The Felpro gasket kit comes with a tube of RTV. Is that RTV good enough to use or do I need to buy the Permatex Right Stuff?

From one mechanic video maker to another, good work. I'm in there right now on mine. You don't actually have to drain the coolant though, you can disconnect the throttle body and just shuffle it out of the way. Saves on coolant costs.

Get the permatex. I made the mistake of using the crap that fel pro packages and I wound up doing the job again. My 92 has fel pro gaskets on it right now and it's leaking thanks to that junk.

I had to pull the throttle body to get rid of all that carbon. Now its nice and clean and idles well.

You can use the RTV but I would suggest spending the extra money and using a high quality product. It's not a job you want to do often because oil is leaking out sooner than later!

I hope you enjoyed the video Shaft and it was helpful and you are welcome. Glad you messaged me about it because it put some fire under my *** to get the footage uploaded and edited.

There is a bleeder valve, actually 2 of them. That's how the trap air is removed.

Our cars may be twins...according to my Vettes birth certificate (build sheet) it was born April 21, 1993....last 6 digits of the VIN are 116159. What's your cars last six vin numbers?

I don't have a build sheet (will order one from the museum) but mine is 121026.

Did you install the manifold right away or did you let the RTV sit for a little and bolted the intake down?

Hey Ozz-

I started on this job and I everything off except for the main intake bolts. I am also having a hard time removing the air tube off the exhaust manifold so those might remain in place.

I was just thinking ahead when its time to drop the intake back in, with the air tube and a very stiff wiring harness not cohmpletely out of the way, what's the trick to dropping the intake straight down so it will line up properly and not mess up the bead of RTV?

Thanks for the help.

You need to hover just above slide it back and drop the manifold down.

I didnt use RTV, used sealant Real Stuff which tacks up in 1-5 minutes. Immediate assembly.

Read somewhere and mentioned to re-torque the intake manifold bolts after a few hours of the initial installtion.

You guys do this and is it necessary?

Best to do it, as the bolts are steel and going into aluminum, torque will loosen and this is the final step to ensure positive clamp loads are achieved.

Another tip would have been to apply some white Loctite pipe sealant to the intake bolt threads to eliminate any potential of oil wicking up the bolt threads and leaking too. Also aides in bolt torque retention.
