Default 88 C4 TRANSMISSION QUESTION - rebuild question

I have a 1988 with a l98 - afr heads and med cam and some other stuff -

it would stall when put into gear sometimes and when it was once at a performance shop I was told it was because the cam had a hard time keeping up with the stock trans -

well the other day a hear a howling sound car wouldn't move until it sat for a few min - I had it towed to a transmission shop they told me it was probably the torque converter -

however since its there and gonna get rebuilt I figured I have them ad a shift kit ( its a automatic ) as well as adding a higher stall -
however I don't wanna loose torque id rather have high torque then over all higher speed-

what size torque should I move up to that's better then the stock converter yet not going too high because I don't wanna loose torque -

the trans shop couldn't really suggest a solid answer to this since they don't know what kinda cam I have as well I don't because the cam was installed by prev owner -

any help would be great'

thanks all

Stall speed depends a lot on cam size
A medium cam is not a good enough description. Do you have cam specs? Gear ratio?

How about this. Call Precision Industries and ask them. They give a free restall if you don't like it after they set it.

Collect all the info and engine/transmission and driveline mods you have done to the car and call one of the pros. I have had very good luck with TCI but there are other transmission specialists out there. The engine specs must be considered along with the final drive ratio and weight to get it right.

Default what about adding a shift kit for automatic

the trans shop told me I didn't need a shift kit because it had the r50 or whatever corvette solenoid - so do I not need to add a shift kit or would it not do me any good ?
