Default Radio doesn't work after battery drain

I have a 1993 40th anniversary convertible with a stock radio/CD player.

The radio does not work after re-charging the battery. Someone told me that the radio will work after a few hours of the battery being re-charged.
Is this true?

Could it be blown fuses? I haven't had the opportunity to check yet. There are 3 fuses that operate the radio/antenna. There are 2 5amp and 1 20amp fuse(s) that operate the radio/antenna.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Fuses should not 'blow' with a dead battery...... but you should
check the fuses as a first diagnostic step.

Have you tried the CD player to see if it works? The radio receiver is in a separate location and powered by a separate harness.

Is there any sound/noise from the speakers if you turn the volume up? Could be a bad amp relay.

I checked the fuses and sure enough it was one of the 5 amp fuse that blew. All is good again. Thanks for your help.

You need to reprogram the radio settings. It forgets all those when power is disconnected or very low.

There is also a "Security Interlock" built into the Bose system. If my memory is correct, the factory code is "000" but the owner could program in another code.

Believe it or not, when new, the Bose system was once popular with thief's! When the Bose lost power ( stolen/removed from vehicle/battery replaced) it will lock up and refuse to work. A theft deterrent.

Instructions for resetting are in the Owners Manual. Try the factory code first.
