Default speed sensor noise

96 collectors LT1 w.auto trans. Speed sensor was leaking, instead of
just changing the O ring, I bought a new sensor. No more leaks and the
speedometer seems to be working correctly, but there is this noise at
low speed. 15-35mph. Thought that the sensor was bad, got another
one and the noise is still there. It sounds like a high pitched wine, like
an old chevy 3 speed wine in first gear.

The attachment of this sensor is by a somewhat movable arm on the sensor. If I tighten it down like the original sensor, it tends to put the sensor at a little angle. WAS THERE A SPACER between the mounting plate
and the trans???

Everything seems to work good but the noise is driving me nuts.

As always your help is appreicated. Putz

There's nothing other than the VSS and it sounds like your "air gap" is screwed up. Just release the retainer and pull the VSS towards you and insert again paying attention to it's position in the bore. Flush to the case should do and I wouldn't "crank-down" on the retainer. Snug should do.
