Default LT1 Exhaust on an L98?

I can aquire a full LT1 exhaust at a reasonable price. This is a from manafold to muffler system. The question is, will it bolt on to my 89? Has anyone done this?

It will, but you may have to have a muffler shop weld you some hangers for the LT1 system. I dont believe the 2 shares same hanger locations.

If you can get the hangers from the LT1 car, it will directly bolt on.

I think going with the LT1 cat back with some long tube headers is a better way to go...but if you just want to save money, the whole thing will work pretty well. The LT1 system is much better flowing at high RPM than the L98 system.

Call Vette2Vette south of Joliet, they have all the parts you need and might have a better price on the exhaust system. If you live in the Chicago area and need to pass IM240, you'll need dual cats, they'll have the entire system including cats and exhaust manifold, brackets etc.

The hangers cost $27 from GM...buy the front and rear for any LT1 year.

The rear hangers mount to the camber brace bolts on the differential. The front mounts to the transmission. Only difference between LT1's and L98's is that the L98 has a rear rubber mount just ahead of the differential. They break easily and suck...

You'll like the LT1 system better. It is lower prifile than the single pipe on the L98's. I don't think you'll be able to mate the system to your mainifolds, but a muffler shop can get you there. A set of headers and some high-flow cats really is another step up.

Yep it will fit, you just need the LT1 exhaust hangers.. I have Full Length headers and an LT4 cat back on my 89.. I am very happy with the fit and looks. I do need some free flow mufflers though.

I only have it from cat back. What is the benefit of going manifolds back?

Thanks guys. Does anyone know if the LT1 exhaust will bolt up to the stock L98 manifolds?

I like the idea of a true dual exhaust. Does anyone make a LT header setup with cats that doesn't reduce to a single cat like the TPIS headers do? How much gain by going LT vs LT1 manifolds/dual cats?

blk90rdstr, How can you have a LT1 cat back system when the cat location is different on the L98 and LT1 cars? How did you connect the LT1 exhaust to the L98 cat???
