Default Any good engine rebuilders in NewEngland(USA)?

I've toasted my engine and looking at alternatives.
(Already posted for info on crate engines)

Anyone know of a shop in Mass, NewHampshire, or Conn. that you would trust to pull your engine and rebuild it
Capable of stroking the block to a 383 with forged pistons.
Rebuild and port the heads also.

thanks

Thanks ... Boss
I'd like to talk to him...
I hate having other people work on my car but...
No free time and I hate seeing it sit in the garage.

I could probably spend a weekend dropping in a crate motor,
looking for other alternatives.

BTW - I saw your post on thirdgen about your fuel mixture rich @ low rpm lean @ high. Mine looked very similar, I leaned out the WOT% vs RPM just a small amount in the 3600, 4000 and 4400 range in the prom, burned the rings off one of the cylinders and melted the plug (on the oposite side from the wideband sensor) ... so be careful. I'm not sure I trust what I was seeing on the wideband, although I'm still trying to figure out what happened.

Superior Machine in Hopedale, MA put together my shortblock. It's a 6" rod 383. I made the right side halfshaft look like a twizzler on a 1 / 2 shift on street tires.

What's the rest of your setup now ? Looks pretty interesting.

I was looking at Superior's web site, wondered if anyone had positive info on them. Guess that is a yes.

It (was) the stock block, heads, and cam with only 40,000 miles. Did a leakdown test a week before the meltdown and they checked at about 98%. It's amazing how one small wrong move can do so much damage.
Paxton supercharger setup was based on a carrol kit and started with their chip program. Have two superchargers one puts out 7psi the other about 9psi, the high output one (not on the car when I burned the piston) is brand new. 1.6 rollers, edelbrock manifold, TPIS runners, 52 or 58mm throttle (can't remember). ford 24 lbs injectors, dynomax cat eliminators front y pipe and back muflers. With the stock automatic/converter and crappy 2.59 rear axle it would run 12.7 @ 112 to 13.25 @ 108 (depends on weather) with a Vericom meter and no rollout. So it was making some decent power.

That Golen's Engine Service looks very interesting, thanks.
I might take a ride over to see them.
Very close to where I am.

What kind of A/F readings were you getting before you leaned it out ? Forced induction is alot greyer when it comes to A/F. The way the plugs look gets to be much more important.

No headers ?

I tune full throttle from about 90 to a little over 150mph.
All in third (only nice thing about a 2.59 axle)

Before I got so smart

The last and fatal run

The wideband is on the pass side down pipe, it doesn't seam to respond very quickly, thus the long drop when you floor it from 14.7 cruise.

I changed the eprom wot% vs rpm table

The Carroll.bin (they +richen mixture as oppose to the stk chip minus)
3600=8.6 4000=8.6 4400=8.6 5200=8.6 5600=8.6
The letsburnapiston.bin
3600=8.2 4000=7.8 4400=8.2 5200=9.0 5600=9.0

Didn't think I had leaned it out that much.

Probably burned in the 4000 rpm range, never felt it or heard any ping.
Water injection comes on at about 4psi, so it probably wasn't spraying in that range either.

No, no headers yet.

Golen Engine Service has a 383 long block listed for $3999.
hypereutectic pistons, 10:1 comp, 220/.51 230/.51 cam, edelbrock performer heads, magnum rollers. looks interesting.

just had to open it up and see what happened....
chunk of the #1 piston ring land is gone, melted aluminum all over the place.

guess i'll leave that fuel mixture in the 11.0 - 11.5 range on the next motor.
