Default 1989 with 1600 miles... won't stay running

I Bought this new in 1989 for my wifes birthday, she never has drove it much (1600 miles) but I start it often . It stays in a a/c & heated garage under a car cover. has never been in rain. The other day i started it, It ran about 5 mins idling and just quit. Tried to restart to no avail. Yesterday I tried to start it , It burped and started, ran 5 min or so, quit again and wouldn't start... Today same story started fine, ran 5 min quit wouldn't start again.........Any ideas would be appreciiated

OK, so you have fuel pressure. That leaves ignition, timing, and injector pulses. We'll assume it's not timing.
Do you have spark?
If you do, you can try spraying some starting fluid in the intake. If it fires, you probably don't have injector pulses.
A noid light would be nice, but you can also try starting it and then pull a plug and see if it's wet. All of these would point to injectors not firing.

Leave the gauge on and keep a eye on it and how long it holds. Now look for spark. pull the air cleaner and look for mouse

If it has been mostly sitting for 26 years, what condition is the fuel in? Maybe you have nothing but varnish in your tank.

He makes a good point how often does it get fresh fuel. did you check the fuel pressure? Or can you on that one?

No opti they started in 92 I believe. Spray some starter fluid and see if it fires let see if it's fuel or spark. Since it's dark have some one crank it and see if any wires are sparking by the plugs , cap or coil

Got a feeling it has to do with your distributor /vs temp.

Start it a time or two with the fluid then pull the vacumme line off you fpr and smell for gas. If you do new fpr.

Looks like you just need the diaphram and a #10 bit with the hole.

It is right next to where your gauge is.

Will need a oil change.

Use a noid light to test injector or a ohm meter to cheak the injectors should be over 12 ohms. Test and post the results

Thanks antfarmer! I tried starting it on fluid 3 times which it started each time but died, i pulled vacuum hose off fpr and NO gas smell... If I get a noid light do I just plug it into injector wire crank & watch light? Tell me the procedure if you would thanks!
