85 4+3 trans
Can I remove the overdrive unit on my 85 stick shift trans and put the long tail shaft housing that came on some factory super T 10's.Thus making the trans a 4 speed. Thanks:

The Doug Nash 4+3 is a 4-speed Borg-Warner Super T10 that has been modified to use an overdrive unit. B-W licensed Nash and GM to build the 4+3 specifically for use in the 84-88 Corvettes.
There are more things to change besides just the tail shaft. Reverse for the 4+3 is part of the OD unit. The main shaft is different and it will be a PITA to use a shifter like a Hurst Competition Plus as it mounts differently and will be to the left of where the stock shifter is located.
You will have to modify the driveshaft length and probably use a different yoke.
