Default Flat Rate time to replace right headlight motor

The dealer is asking an extreme amount to install a headlight motor. Does anyone have the GM flat rate time for me? Dealer wants $800 to R&R the motor.

Is it really bad? What is it doing or not doing? Best to fix it yourself,

What year?

I think you could buy me a plane ticket from Nashville to California and i would change it for you......I rebuilt the motors in both of mine and it was not a big deal..Could you not rebuild/replace them yourself?

I will replace it my self now, but I would like to discuss the quote with them so they fully understand why I will not be back for service on any of my cars. I like when I have the facts and they squirm.

I have a rebuilt motor to replace it.

Okee Dokee... Well, I got a rebuilt from Eklers. I will fool around with the old one. Have to get back into doing my own work.

Time required to R&R the motor should be about 30 min. Max..IMHO

Thanks everyone for the input. Still would like the GM flat rate to form a valid complaint against the dealer's service department...

So I'm guessing this would be the same dealer that wanted $900 to replace both clutch cylinders? never mind complaining, time to walk away and start doing your own straightforward repairs.

Just open the hood then turn on your lights till you fix it.

Here is a good site to reference as a guide. Follow the "Get and estimate" orange button, fill in your car's info. Go HERE

Unfortunately, they don't show a headlight anything in categories. I agree w/the above that labor for that job should be about 1/2 hour.

1. Dealers have no interest in servicing/repairing C4s anymore.
2. They likely don't own FSMs for C4s anymore.
3. Likely the book, if they had one, allows 2 hours.

Thanks. You are most likely correct. Dealer could care less about C4's. Thanks for the Flat Rate time.

Took me just over 2 hours. Not bad for a old slow poke like me.. I will give the dealer a piece of my mind even though I have so little to spare.
