Spark Plug Wires With TPIS Headers
I have a 1986 coupe with iron heads. I installed TPIS headers this summer. My problem is that I keep burning number 6 wire because of the straight boot. I did install boot protectors but; it only lasted a little bit longer. I wanted to know what angle boot should I buy? Also, what is good wire to use?
Thanks
Thanks

They were the best fitting headers i have ever had (in terms of tube bends, clearances, and spark plug wire clearance).
I used msd wires for lt1 (do not recommend these spark arcd At the boot to wite/junction) and also taylor wires.
Both wires fit these well without burning

don't know if this will help, but if it's a single wire, parts houses used to carry individual wires and it's just a matter of physically matching up one to what you need.

All 90 degree MSD wires but custom cut and not precut.

these are hooker headers but all 90's for sure...

On my '87, the #6 plug boot was not a 90 degree boot, maybe 135 degree?? That was necessary to clear the OEM location of the oil dipstick tube. The aluminum heads also have angled plugs.
When I installed my Hedman Headers, I bought a Taylor 8.2mm plug wire set that had all 90 degree boots. The passenger side header required a slight relocation of the dipstick tube and the 90 degree boot worked fine as the #4 and #6 header tubes are angled to the rear compared to the factory manifold.
I also used boot protectors and made sure the wires got routed and secured away from the header tubes.

The last set of MSD Superconductors I bought didn't have the straight boot, this solved the problem.
When my 86 had straight plug iron heads, I'd burn 2-3 wires a year, with the same covers you have there.

Short plugs also help in some situations. When I had straight plug heads I needed a short plug on #5 to get it off the header.

I bought short Accel plus which were the same length as what was already there, but yellow.
The only solution I found was a set of plug wires with ceramic ends (boots, sort of).
The pricey Taylor boots were a waste of money, for me.
