Fixing peeling clear?
Anyone have much luck fixing peeling clear on a c4?
So pissed took my car to a diff car wash about a week ago and it blew the clear off my front bumper. It's about 8"x3" and growing, I just noticed today the damage from that wash at my normal place and at 1st thought it was gunk from that crappy final rise so I made it worse. I was also pissed when I left that POS car wash and the spot free finish left crap all over my car, more like spot streak max. Looks like a really good car wash, but it's...............

Basically from everything I could find it has to be repainted completely. Both my bmw's are doing it and my 86 vette did it. Hail storm caused the vettes clear to bubble up and peel.
The bmw's are just from old age.

crowz is correct. If its the original paint it should be stripped to the primer and then prepped and painted. OEM peeling clearcoat condition correction is not a scuff and shoot process

Unfortunately, there is no good way to fix peeling/flaking clear coat. The OEMs had a lot of problems with clear coat in the 1980s to early 1990s (that's right when most of our stuff was made) as the manufacturers switched from organic solvent based paints to water based paints because of the USEPA's restrictions on volatile organic compound emissions.
Its got to be strip and repaint, don't just over-spray or it can peel at the old clearcoat/colorcoat boundary.

Needless to say it needs to be repainted.
