Default Key fob issues

1994 MT, fob has been working well until this past week.

I use the passive entry system and loved it but lately it is not activating the door lock/unlock.

Other issues that just started:
Door lock button will only lock the doors, it will not unlock them.
Hatch button works fine.
No chirp anymore as I walk away.
Twice the alarm has gone off as I get into the unlocked car.

Any ideas?

you do not use the button to unlock or lock the doors. walk up to or away to lock and unlock. the button if held will turn the alarm on and off.

might just need a new battery and to be turned on.

I don't believe that the door button locks the doors. I think it will unlock the pass. door. You have turned the system off. Stand next to the drivers door and hold down the door button until you hear a clackclack sound. It should be turned on again (this is covered in the owners manual) and work as you expect. So you know, the fob cannot be used manually like most, you cannot lock the doors with the button or unlock the drivers door with the button.

Holding the button down turns the PKE system "on" or "off", not the alarm. They are separate systems.
