Default CS144 Alternator Upgrade howto

Finished my howto for the cs144 upgrade for earlier model C4's in case anyone needs it.

http://crowz.narmir.com/vehicles/198...nator-upgrade/

I had posted some of the info when I did the mod earlier but this has all the details including measurements and such now.

Hope it helps out some.

Thanks for this post. I had a ton of problems with mine in the early nineties. I have a Motorcraft (I know...I know...but I went through 4 AC Delcos...I was desperate and needed the money...lol) that has lasted since 1994. When it goes, I hope your pal has the brackets ready...its CS 144 time!

Glad to help !

That is a possibility that I considered till one of my customers told me he could make one and make them for others so I'm waiting to go that route. If you do go the drilling the case route you want to run a bolt from the inside thus creating a stud. Then put the brace on the stud and use a nut to hold it on.

Default 4 year update?

Did you ever have an issue with removing the brace? I need to replace my alternator, this looks like a good upgrade

I've been running a CS144 on my 89 with headers and no brace for 2 years 20k miles no problem.

Not strictly necessary on the alternator, I've run it for a decade with no problems.

However you do need something on the AC Compressor.

Its been about 6 years now and that alternator is still kicking. Ive NEVER had an alternator last that long on a c4 before so its a must have mod in my opinion.

Customer never made the bracket for me but its still doing fine.
