So far, I've fabricated an ALDL to DB9 cable to hook up to an old laptop I have sitting around. I've installed WINALDL on it but I can't get it to log anything. I've tried different COM ports, and different Baud settings. (2400 vs. 4800) I do know that I have the correct ECM setting selected. I'm thinking I made an error when building the cable so I'll go back and look at that. What's the best place in the car to draw 12v from?

Hi all, sorry for the delay in response there. I've been really busy on other projects. I had gotten the car to a point where it ran pretty well but still not quite perfect. It still hasn't ever done that dieseling problem again so that fix seems to be permanent. Meanwhile, I've also replaced the steering wheel, shifter boot, and I redid the seats. The interior looks way better than it did when I bought the car. Now, I've decided to try this data logging again. I bought an ALDL cable online. If I get anything figured out here, I'll be sure to post my findings.

Good news! Using WINALDL combined with my new aldl cable, adjusting the base idle speed using the IAC counts seems to have helped a lot. I can tell a noticeable difference with warm starts. We'll see what happens for cold starts later. This is definitely promising though so let's hope for the best
