Default Help with spring codes

I just bought an 84 and want to see if it is a z51. It does not have the 3 letter codes like my other c4's. It has small metal tags on the springs with the numbers 8310276 on the front and 8310444 on the rear. It is an early 84, not sure if that makes a difference in why it doesn't have the 3 letter codes.

I have searched everywhere and not found anything. As you know, early 84's don't have the rpo codes listed anywhere on them.

Thanks for any help,
Shawn

The letter codes aren't on the springs outboard near the control arms? I've had several in my hands and all did.

Have you confirmed maybe the sway bar dimensions, the wheel stagger maybe or the steering ratio?

You could always buy the "build sheet" for confirmation.

Do you have the '84 only radiator engine oil cooler option? That option was only available to cars that had Z51. It was the only year C4 with a radiator tank optioned cooler with a pair of hoses. There's maybe less than 4300 of those optioned cars reported as built. If that's there plus the other incidentals I'd say it's "confirmed".

The 3 letter code is embossed into the end of the spring.

Is the option code sticker not under the arm rest?

I found the codes, it is not a z-51
I was looking on the driver's side ans the code was on the passenger side.

The rpo codes were not put in the early 84 cars, not sure when they started putting them in, my brother had a late 84 49xxx production and I had a 16xxx vin back in 1988 and his had the codes and mine didn't. They were in the rear storage compartment on the 84's that had them.
