Default 85 heater hose replacement

First of all... Thank you everyone for the very helpful advice and tips on how to flush the coolant system. While its drained i thought i would replace all hoses. Any suggestion on how to get to the heater and radiator hoses off that go to the water pump. I'm trying to follow them . With a mirror. I can see the heater hose where it connects to the water pump, but cant see or feel the heater hose connection. As always, your suggestion and advice are greatly appreciated

Remove the clamps and jab a screw driver in the hose to break it loose. You did pull the knocks and or plugs right?

When I replaced my intake manifold I used the opportunity to put on new hoses and the heater hose under the a/c compressor was one of the most difficult tasks of the whole process. It came off easy enough but getting it back on was a pain. I did it mostly by feel and lots of swearing.

May not help at all, but there are times when pulling something out I've had to trace the route for the replacement. When I can't necessarily see where it goes all the way, I've attached a length of florescent cord to one end while pulling it out. It provides a bright visual course for whatever came out and makes it easier to track how the new one goes in.
If you get the right stuff, it can even glow under a black light. Sometimes you can also use it like an electrical snake, hook the new up to the line and carefully pull it back through where the old stuff was.

Just a thought.
