Default 1987 sensor question

I have a 1987 corvette , on the front of the intake there are 2 sensors one directly below the bypass hose and another below where the fuel lines bolt on . the one under the bypass I think is the temp sensor for gauge but what is the other with the square plug.my problem is I was changing out the intake and the intake I got from a 1989 corvette and it doesn't have the sensor in it under fuel lines so I was gonna drill and tap a new hole but was gonna buy a new sensor and don't know what it is .

The switches/sensor on the front are I believe 1. The cold start device (maybe 2 blade & square) and 2. the other is the temp sender for the ECM. Neither is for the GAUGE as you suggest.

The sensor that has a connector like the fuel injectors is the cold start thermo switch. It turns on the cold start injector when the engine is cranking. It turns off after 8 seconds or if the coolant temperature is higher than 95°.

In 1989 the cold start injector was eliminated and the injector pulse width was widened to richen the mixture while cranking.

The EGT4 is a Standard Parts switch that is used in many applications for EGR temp delay (also other functions), they apparently felt that it could be substituted for the OE/GM Cold Start - don't confuse other manufacturers thoughts with intended applications. The switch "you asked about" was ID'd by myself and Cliff as a Cold Start device and on your '87 that was the function of the switch in that location.

Your car '87 and also the '89 uses an EGR Temp Sensor BUT your choice "ain't it" search eBay for a 14087415 to get a visual.

You already mentioned that you've removed the CSI so ..........

I suggest maybe you study/investigate/learn a little - you also thought initially that a sender/switch in that location was for a gauge. Wrong also...
