Default front end shake?

I am getting a bad front end shake under 70 mph. I had my wheels balanced and checked the wheel bearings. has newer tie rod ends. What else would cause this ? Alignment ?

Was the shake there before the tie rods?
Some tires are made quite poorly in regards to being out of round or high spots in the tread, on a normal road car with soft suspension it may go unnoticed.

Not on a corvette....

Of course wheel alignment can cause it, hopefully the shop is experienced enough.

There have been quite a few posts of front end shake due to poor wheel balance, I mean they have to be an idiot to mess it up as a balancing machine will indicate what weights to put where.

The brake discs can warp however is most noticeable upon heavy braking, the shudder through the steering wheel.

1 get the tires balanced elsewhere, look at the surface of the tire make sure there are no uneven areas.

I have some cheap nexen tires that offer fantastic grip, great on a smooth highway no vibration at all.

Good luck.

Good luck

Found and solved the issue. This is embarrassing and hard to believe but believe it or not when I greased my front end a couple weeks ago some clumps of grease stuck to one of my wheels and apparently was heavy enough to throw the balance off enough to cause the shake. If someone would have told me this was possible I would have never believed it. With the targa top off it felt like a bent wheel it was that bad.

Just when you think you've seen it all. Glad you found it before throwing more $$ at it.

Actually that happens more often than not...people don't always know or realize it happens since it can be a gradual process over time.

Rocks stuck in the tread do it to me all the time and ice in the winter on my truck.
