Default 1996 LT1 purchase

Hello folks, I'm looking at a very low mile 96 convert, auto. I was remembering that the Opti Spark ignitions were troublesome, what else should I be looking for as a pre purchase inspection? Tks!

By '96 Chevy had done some modifications to make the Optispark a bit more reliable than when it first came out.

Also check the AC/heater blending, there was an issue that the '96's had. The one I just bought has the issue, even with only 12,000 miles on it.

Agreed. When I got my high-mileage '96, the water pump had been leaking. 2-1/2 years after replacing the water pump, I'm still running the same Opti.

The opti is fine. I got 160k out of the factory opti in my B-body. (Never even needed a cap and rotor) The opti gets a bad rep mostly from people who have never owned an L99/LT1/LT4 car. They just repeat what they hear when someones cheap opti fails.
