Default Leaking valve cover bolts

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping someone has a solution that I can use to solve my leaking valve cover bolt issue.

My car is an 88' I finished earlier this year doing a pretty involved mechanical restoration/ resto mod to the car, see my build for details. So the engine is pretty new about 2k on it so I don't think it is a blowby issue. The car Is awesome except for this one problem.

when I autocross the valvecover bolts leak oil all over the valve covers. (This does not really happen on the street).

I have tried, rubber gromets, o-rings, cut gasket material to fit around/under the bolts and finally copper washers.

The leaks are a little better with the copper washers but It's still creating a mess!

Any ideas would be welcomed!

Are you using stock or aftermarket valve covers?

They are GMPP tall aluminum valve covers, as the stock ones won't fit over my roller rockers.

Did you try grinding off the drip tabs?

I hear you can do that, but no I just switched the valve covers, I kind of like the look of the tall covers better anyway....

trying to find pix of underside If these are like the pro form style the there is no bolt tube going down to head, just a boss. Is it possible to put a valve seal on boss that might seal on shank of the bolt.

You are correct, I don't think there is a bolt tube at all.

Hmm... the valve seal is an interesting idea, I think I may even have a bag of old valve seals laying around some where. I'll look into that a day this week and see if its possible...
