Headers Rust
Hello, I recently picked up a set of headers y pipe and mufflers for a pretty good price. But the headers have some surface rust. They are, well were ceramic coated. I am wounder what the best recourse here is. I would have JET-whatever Re coat them but they quoted me 400 dollars not including shipping. I am thinking strip and paint, any suggestions??? or can i just ignore the rust and run um anyways. Thanks guys

If they were mine I would grab a can of high-heat paint that matches the original color, sand them lightly to get the paint to adhere, but not so much as to remove what is left of the ceramic coating.
prep the surface good and spray away. follow the heat break in instructions, as i understand that's the most important part.

That's what I was beginning to think, but, I was also considering doing a high temp clear coat covering the original ceramic post cleaning them up a bit. I wonder if others have even more suggestion! Thank you

Not sure how much surface rust or how deep it goes. I'd find a boroscope to see the inside of the headers before I go anywhere. You can pay Jet $400 to do it but if it is eaten up from inside, what's the point of throwing good money after bad?

Burning Brakes
Thermo Tex silver coating made for header wrap has worked very well for me on exhaust headers, pipes and mufflers.Clean with brake clean first.Better than any so called high heat paint

I have repainted over jet hot coating that developed surface rust, if that is all yours is, then go ahead and do so.
