You aren't really going to get more performance from the wires unless you are really doing competition. Don't know personally but isn't the opti area kinda tight for bigger wires? I'd go back with OE unless you have a reason for the hassle.

I have a custom set for my L98 but that was because I changed to a different distributor and wanted to route them over the valve covers. Is there the placebo effect? Sure. Feels like I gained 10HP. Seriously, I got the wires and crimpers on a good deal so that was what I went with. The Opti area doesn't look that open so don't give yourself headaches you don't need. If you were racing, you'd be doing something better but that isn't your wallet you are opening.

I put a nice set of Taylor red 8mm wires on when I replaced my opti cap in my 95. My other wires were oem and dirty , I was just wanting to go with red because I liked the looks of the red wires on the LT4 and since I had the front of the engine down to the opti I figured might as well spend another hour or so and take the accessory bracket off and put new wires. Like I said, not looking for a performance upgrade, just an aesthetic upgrade!

The OEM wires are high quality, will last a long time if installed correctly, and fit as they should, especially into the wire looms. You'll gain precisely 0.000 HP by installing aftermarket wires.
