CC501 cam

CC501 cam
Has anyone run this cam? or driving a car with it? Or seen dyno numbers from one? It seems like a nice cam for keeping the stock PowerBand but it may be too small. There isn't alot of info our there on it in regards to actual people running it. I'm ordering a cam today it's either the cc501 or hot cam. I want the max lift to stay under my lt4 springs max capacity. I also prefer torque over horsepower and don't intend on taking the LT over 6krpm. If anyone has experience with the cc501 I'd like to hear about it. I found and old you tube videos of z28 with the 501 in it and he claims 325 rwhp/355rwtq. I like the torque number and the power seems in the hotcam range, but I'd like to hear some more about it before I buy it and possibly regret it. Thanks.

The specs on the CC501 say not for LT1 or LT4. I'm not sure of the reason for that, could be just the length of the pin on the front but I'd tend to pay attention to Comp's spec sheet and skip it. The hot cam definitely likes more than 6000 rpm so if you're limiting yourself to that then you won't see the real benefit. It also does lose a bit of torque at the bottom so if you're looking for a torque cam it may not be the best choice either. Comp actually recommends the CC304 (07-304-8) for LT1 but it has a little more lift than the hot cam so won't work with the LT4 springs and 1.6 RR. It'd work fine with the LT4 springs and 1.5 RR though.

It's definitely for the lt1, they make a 501 for gen1s and ls's also but they have different part numbers. The lt1 cc501 is 07-501-8. .488/.495 on 1.5 rr so should be .518/.525 with the 1.6s. Duration I believe is 212/218 so its definitely a bump over stock. As you see in the lack of posts there is very little info on this cam in action, I'd like to learn more about it.

Ahh, I guess I pulled up the wrong 501, didn't realize there were two.
You might want to check out ls1tech.com or ltxtech.com. ls1tech has a section on LT1 and LT4 cars, while ltxtech caters to the LT cars. It's mostly F-Body people there but they tend to do more performance mods so you may find more info.
