Help Needed Emergency Brake Light
HI all
I have a 1985 C4 basr Vette. I am having an issue with the emergency brake light staying on.
Some times when I release my parking brake it works perfect. But a few times the light will stay on. When this happens I reset the brake and release it
sometimes this gets the light to go out. Other times it just stays on.
Car drives fine fo I know the brakes are released.
Any idea where to look?
Or how to fix this. Getting very annoying
Thanks

Might see if it is the switch in the brake lever housing. In the picture below, it might be that blue thingy.

Take the plastic cover off so you can look carefully at it.

The blue item is the micro switch that turns the light on and off when the parking brake is set. I had to tweak (bend it a little) the arm a little so it would disengage the light when the brake is released. Do it in small increments and be gentle doing it.
I was able to mod mine without removing the arm from the car, only removing the cover. There are 2 or 3 screws holding the cover on, luckily the furthest one to the rear had been previously removed so I could get it out without removing the seat. That back one would be a bear to get to otherwise.
Good luck.
