Hmmm. I might have to see if I can borrow someone's unit and give it a whack.

Prove it.
People post this stuff, it's simply a regurgitation of MSD's own marketing propaganda.

I've asked this in other threads and gotten zero evidence of this. Never seen a dyno result that showed anything either. If you have this system, please do this; with the engine running, measure voltage at the + wire to the coil/distributor. Post back.

I run a stock distributor on my 10 second 85 drag car to 6500 rpm. No issues and car is very consistent.

msd boxes only provide multiple spark to 3k rpm. Good for the street.

If using a power adder then an aftermarket ignition could be the way to go.

Wow.. Sorry I haven't commented in a few days. I've been swamped at work. I'm learning a lot so far. I'll probably post some more this weekend when I have a chance. In the meantime can anyone recommend any other threads or books on learning more about the ignition system in our Vettes. I've pretty much exhausted my library including Automotive wiring by Tony Candela. Thanks again.

What exactly do you want to do with the car?

IIRC, the Accel 300+ box did about the same thing. Rev limiter you can set and multiple spark till about 3000 rpm then single spark. Only thing is I wish I could borrow someone's working unit and try it on a 2 year cap and rotor setup where I do get some missing and see if it improves more than the lower rpm ranges since I get a little missing on the 5000+ area

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all the help with the distributor. I've just ordered the Davis Unified Ignition 12611BK. From all my research and some calls to MSD, Acell and others this seems like a good choice. I'll let ya all know in a few months. Thanks again.
