C-4 rear wheel bearing question Please..
I spent the last few days removing the three drive shafts and removing the u-joints out of my 94 C-4. While I was at it, I figured that I might as well replace the wheel bearings assembly's at the same time. All joints and bearings were ordered in advance but I have a small problem I need answered. I know and have watched several videos on changing the wheel bearings, easy job.
BUT the MOOG bearings I ordered appear to be a bit different than what I removed. The old bearing assembly has what appears to be a seal pressed into the assembly, the new assembly does not. Also the new MOOG assembly came with an O-Ring which the old did not. Is this the way it should be, or should it be an exact replacement.
The new MOOGs are part number 513013
Hopefully I can get this job done tomorrow

Yes I believe the early C-4 had the press in grease seal but I do not think the 94 had it, Sounds crazy but that is what I am trying to figure out.
Thanks anyway

There is no press-in seal on later c4's (I think it was only 1984). I replaced my rear wheel bearing hubs last year and I do not recollect using the large o-ring. To be sure, I just double checked the FSM and it does not show the o-ring on the parts diagram being used either. So you should be good with just the wheel bearing hub and the teflon washer.

I had a potential hub issue so I changed one last weekend. The one that came off had a pressed on seal. The replacement had a sleeve in it with a shoulder and a rubber seal in it. Looked like you slipped it on the end of the half shaft then when it slips into the hub the seal slides over the inside end of the hub.
Mine also had a thin rubber o-ring in the pack, there was no position for it so I didn't use it.
My hub assembly listed for 84-96 so maybe some of those things may be used on one year and not another.

Just for your information: the 513013 is a multi-fit hub for several GM cars such as Buicks, S10, and more. The hub for just Corvettes is the 513020. There is a slight difference in the specs for the two different hubs.
I replaced the rears on my 89 last year and spent a lot of time researching this. Pull up Rock Auto and enter the two numbers and you will see all the different applications listed for the 513013.
In my opinion this hub should not be used on a Corvette because of the different specs. But, this is just my opinion.
Good luck

One more thing I've noted. If you consider replacing the front hubs, you will need a 'long' T55 torx adapter. I have not done the front yet, but looks like it will take a 4" or longer one to get to the bolts through the hole in the outside part of the hub.

The following link gives some more detail on them.

Dimensions taken from that thread are below, but for a summary:
The FlangeDia, WheelPilotDia, BrakePilotDia, FlangeOffset, and HubPilotDia are all 0.001" different between the 513020 and 513013. The 0.001" difference works fine. I have used both numbers in my Corvettes without any problems.
513020 84-96 Corvette rear
5x4.75
FlangeDia=5.689
WheelPilotDia=2.761
BrakePilotDia=2.781
FlangeOffset=1.861
HubPilotDia=3.209
Splines=27
Flange=ModifiedTriangle
513013 83-93 S10/Blazer 82-85 front Buick Riviera/Caddy/Olds
5x4.75
FlangeDia=5.69
WheelPilotDia=2.76
BrakePilotDia=2.78
FlangeOffset=1.86
HubPilotDia=3.21
Splines=27
Flange=ModifiedTriangle
Good luck.

Can I get measurements for these? I suspect we could find a close match at industrial supplier, like McMaster-Carr:

They already provided orings for cold start injector to fuel rail.

GM doesn't make all parts, they use suppliers for typical items. Helps if engineers already know specs for a part instead of designing a new one.
Highly likely a supplier can provide a dozen for $10, versus corvette-vendor-of-choice 2 fer $20+ . I know, not a ton of money compared to some parts, some of us are thrifty.
