Default DN 4+3 transmission fill plug

I am doing the trans service myself for the first time. I have removed the pan and resealed. Now the issue, the square fill plug seems very tight, in fact it will not budge. Is there a trick? the car is on jack stands so space is an issue, I just want to be sure that I wont break anything if I use 14mm wrench with a leverage bar.

The main trick is to use the Correct 1/2" drive Socket that is made to remove a Square Head drain Plug. Once you find the Correct size get it fully on and use constant increasing pressure until it pops loose. But Do Not just put a Open end wrench or Standard Box Wrench or Socket only the Plug Socket, I Believe it's a 9/16 Eight Point socket

Default 4+3 Maintenance

It's very important that you keep up the maintenance on the OD unit, depending on the heat of where you are and if you're running it hard you need to service the OD about every 12000 miles or every year and a half. The 4+3 can take a beating but fluid needs regular service.

Mine was so stubborn that it rounded even with the correct socket. I tried everything. The wax trick, freeze off, heat (as much as I dared). I ended up drilling and tapping an 1/8 pipe plug in the middle of the 1/2" plug. Later when I rebuilt it (bad synchro) I drilled and chiseled it out (saved the threads). Aluminum can be a real bitch if over tightened.

When I did mine, I used the correct socket with a breaker bar + a two foot length of pipe on the breaker bar for a little extra leverage.

I just had an issue with this, Had to put a pipe on a big crescent wrench. I slightly rounded the plug in the process, I just used a bench grinder to turn it back into a square shape before I put it back in.
