Default Fuel rail leaks, recommended sealants, etc.

Well I'm getting close to firing up my car real soon after putting in new rebuilt injectors, rebuilding my fuel rail, and a bunch of other stuff. I've done a leak test after putting in the injectors, and so far so good, but...

I decided to put in one of those nifty fuel pressure gauges on the fuel rail, and I'm getting a very small leak right around the schrader valve area. I think it's coming from one of the fittings needed for the gauge. I don't plan to run it unless I can figure out something for that small leak. Worst comes to worse, I'll just take it off...but, does anyone have any suggestions for a sealant, teflon tape, etc. that would work? I researched it quite a bit beforehand, and the majority of advice on this forum was not to use either, so I didn't. Research elsewhere is like anything else on the internet...an exact 50/50 split of "Yes, absolutely" and "No, not under any circumstances", LoL. If it was ever a 51/49 split, at least I could make a decision...

Thanks!

FWIW, I've installed a couple of these fuel rail gauges. basically, they are a combination of 1/4 inch, AN4, flare fittings and 1/8 inch pipe. on both my installations, I used Teflon tape in the pipe fitting, and nothing on the 1/4 inch flare. several years now, and bone dry. ABSOLUTELY, DO NOT DRIVE WITH ANY KIND OF LEAK AROUND THE FUEL RAIL!

Teflon tape should work for you.

If you can't get the leak stopped with Teflon, take the gauge off and drive the car.

I plan to unless I am 100% confident the leak has stopped. Thanks!

Thanks for the info...You are always a lot of help! I definitely won't even try to start it this way, even though it's very minor. I took the gauge off, reinstalled the schraeder valve, and it no longer leaks. Might give it another shot.

In addition to the gauge itself, there are two other parts to it...a straight aluminum adapter of some sort that goes to the original valve, and a brass angled elbow with tapered thread that goes between the aforementioned adapter and the gauge. The gauge had no leak, and the brass elbow didn't either. The original valve is not leaking, so pretty sure the leak is coming from that aluminum adapter. In order for the gauge to be read, it had to not be tightened super tight, or it would be at an awkward angle, pretty much hitting the FPR. Think this could be corrected with teflon tape, or do I not want to put it on that adapter (If I follow, it is the elbow that you used it on) and just buy a new one of those fittings? Thanks!

Thanks...Gauge is off, and no leaks! Might give it another shot and see if I can stop it. Kind of a handy thing to have in there...

If anyone might be following this...

If I decide to replace that adapter I mentioned (The one between the schraeder valve and the elbow), am I looking for "-4AN to 1/8" NPT"? And if so, would anyone that's put one of these on maybe know the part number from Russell, Earl's, or other? I get some great online discounts, so would prefer that over walking into the auto parts store with it...

Thanks!
