Hi Richard,
How about a modern day cosmetic update based on the ZR1 theme....
Plasti-dip the Wheels Black, paint the Calipers Blue, and get some cool lookin' Stickers and Badges
Attachment 48076625
Do it !

Since there are no wise asses here I will post a question after this comment. I have my second corvette, an 86. I swore off working on cars and ED days but after my C7 down at ron fellows I am hooked. My c4 is an 86 that PO made into a wannabee ZR 1. The 383 stroker moves it along well and I have updated bushings, brakes and shocks. This might be a dumb question but it occurs to me that paint on calipers might inhibit cooling just a tad? Or? ANd yes I plastidipped the chromies and it looks 100% better.

OK as others have said post some pics so we know what you have. If its a standard C4 do what flips your skirt. If it is in fact a 90-95 ZR-1 know what you have before you trash it.
Here are a few links you may find of interest in helping you find what you have

Real quick if this is what you see when you open the hood it is in fact a real ZR-1.

op either another member trolling or someone who has no idea what he owns.
This is why you dont "save" them for your kids, they will hack it up or garage sale it the next week.
Nothing that isnt work for is truly appreciated
Im all about mods and could g.a.s. about # math but take that LT5 out you couldnt give that car away down the road.
Plus you can make stupid huge power NA with the LT5

I'll be happy to come over and help you yank both engine and transmission to make room for your more sensible options. We must keep these C4s on the road-- whatever it takes!
I'll even offer to haul away and dispose of your old (no charge) pieces just to help expedite your progress.

no wasn't trolling at all just a 22 year old kid who yes probably doesnt know what he has and don't have pictures of the car currently...just wanted to know what the community thought of my ideas. Obviously i've been blown out of the water of my ideas so...I pose another question. instead of heckling and giving hell to possible new memeber of the community how about helping me know exactly what I have. My father never did teach me everything he knew like I wished he did. (thank you We Gone for your links and info) I believe it is yes a true 90 chevrolet zr1.

I believe yes that looks quite familiar haven't seen the car in a minute since its been under a tarp in a garage since he passed he was in the middle of a rebuild of the motor but i'm not sure exactly where he left off on it. How much would an over haul of the motor cost? i've heard prices between 16-25k
Most refer to a particular year model by its vin# this can be found at the base of the windshield and a few other spots. Anyway the last 4 digits will be the number and order it was produced.
You will find a few people who work on the LT5. Not sure of your location but I know of 2 in the south and maybe 3 up north. here is a link to Marc Haibeck http://www.zr1specialist.com/ he did my upgrade to his 510hp package. in the link to the ZR-1 net you will find reference to the others and days of reading about what you have.
As you read about the ZR-1 you will find your father made a very good pick of a very special Corvette in history keep it as it is and remember him every time you drive it.
Good luck and feel free to contact me. I think you will find that the ZR-1 owners are one of the best and tightest groups around always ready to step up and help another owner when possible.
PS: I go by the same handle on the net.

Its not worth it to do an lsx conversion $ wise
Build the LT5 or throw a Gen 1 with a carb on, add blower
If...you want to keep it forever otherwise you wont get spit for the car without the LT5 engine
read up on the heart of the beast really goes in depth at the engineering of the LT5 they are very stout motors.

Just read it
thought it was all folklore til I owned one
was high miles got drivenhard before me...did the same
Gotta tell ya after having an LSx car new and now with 180k the LT5 is 100% superior youll see. Better than any import period!! never seen anything like it
If my financial was different Id DD another one regarless of mi drive it all week drag race it on weekends and not worry about. how many motors can do that not many.
