Default galvanic corrosion of power seat base.

galvanic corrosion of power seat base. The electrical plugs for the motor were blown apart and I'm guessing shorting out. Is that what probably caused the extreme galvanic corrosion around all four of the mounting holes? The studs in the bottom of the tub are Steel. I'm going to have to get an aluminum welder to put a plate on the top. Comments welcome.

1986 that i am refurbishing. passenger side is non power seats and is steel where it mounts to floor studs.

The only time I've seen galvanic corrosion between aluminum and galvanized steel is when its been or stays wet for a while.

interesting. i would say that previous to the last owner, this car was definately wet inside for a while.

I think the previous owner did replace some of the carpets. but based on the rust i saw on the seat mount studs yeah it was wet for a while.

After you deal with the rust, loctite anti seize, lightly brushed where the two different metals touch, or http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleu...5838/100142963 or any High zinc paint.
