Default Skip shift eliminator

Ok, since this is my first 6spd, i need to know how to get rid of the stupid 1 to 4. I know that i've seen a module to plug in, but can I not just unplug the stupid thing? (and where's the plug?).

The plug hangs off the tranny, it should be easy to spot. Yes, you can just unplug it, the kit just protects the connections from getting all dirty and keeps it all clean. If you don't get the kit, at least tape it all up :)

My 95 I just unhooked it and taped up the ends to protect them from dirt. The 96 has a resistor in the bypass plug so you don't get a check engine code.

Do you know what that resistor is? Guess I need to go to radio shack :)

If you drive it right you'll never encounter the CAGS. :D

haha.. yeah :). well, the only couple of times that i've noticed it is when i'm going slowly through an intersection because of a bad road or it's wet, or something like that. I usually go past the rpm it wants me to shift into 4th ;)

Pretty sure it's 1000 ohm's, a 5 pack of resistors will cost you 11 cents, should fix you right up. Let me see if I can double check that for ya. Skip shift is annoying as hell ain't it ?

Nope, it's 10k ohms, 1/2 watt. This still only costs 11 cents at radio shack.

Actually I'm still wrong! 2.2k ohm, half watt. Here's the website http://www.ls1.com/link_cags.html

If you have LT1-Edit you can do it in the program. Just raise the CAGS enable temperature to 255F.

Well, i USED to be able to program anything I wanted with tuner cat and do logging with diacom. Now that it's OBD-II, i can't do that. LT1 edit won't work. I need LT4 edit :( .

The CAGS delete. It was the cheapest, best mod I ever done. Actually it was free.

It's called learning how to drive your car. :jester

The CAGS eliminator is only ~$18.00 from Ecklers, etc. I've discovered local performance shops may have them too. Takes longer to jack up the car than to locate and plug the thing in.

i think I'll stick to the "5 CAGS eliminator resistor kit" for 11 cents at radio shack, haha. :D

You just need OBDII LT1-Edit :). Only downside is the price: $550
Carputing's site has all the info.

CAGS is annoying isn't it? :mad I finally got the computer reprogramed so the light no longer comes on as well. Now the tranny works as it should! :yesnod:

Ya know guys you don't even have to get under the car; just unplug the CAGS relay in the engine compartment!

See service manual for locations for your particular year...
