[Info] Dana 36 to Dana 44 Conversion
I just upgraded to the Dana 44. I had a shop do the rebuild and install.
Here is some info for anyone that wants to do the job.
My Dana 44 is from an 85 Vette. I wanted 3.07 gears, so I needed a 44 from a 85 - 88 Vette only.
We used a 4+3 driveshaft and installed my auto front yoke on it. Also, the manual tranny torque arm was used. Everything lined up and fit perfectly.
The only issue was that the 85 torque arm doesn't have the bracket for the exhaust hanger. This is the hanger that holds the back of the Ypipe up.
I will have to fabricate something for this.
Thanks to Ralph for helping me on this.

Sounds familiar. My 44 came out of a '91 ZR-1. I used the six speed driveshaft with my front yoke. No problem...went right in.
You're ready for more power and torque now Vic! Just don't build a 420 :D

That is what I did except I modified my auto driveshaft to fit.

This will probably be my next mod :yesnod:
I found a guy with 10 new old stock ones here in the uk for $1200 each
Does anyone know if the later 6sp members have the ex/bracket holes in them ?
