Default Oil Pressure question again

Guy,

Please post your oil pressure, I don't know if my oil pressure is OK???

My car: Rebuild engine with Total Seal Piston Rings, regular oil pump. The people at Total Seal doesn't recommended high volume oil pump.

Cold engine Oil Pressure: ~64 psi @ 1500-1700 rpm
~45-50 psi @ 600-700 rpm (idle)

Operating temp Oil Pressure: ~44-46 psi @ 1700-1900 rpm
14-18 psi @ 600 rpm

I rememeber before rebuild the engine never went below 20-22 psi idle.

Is 14 psi at idle too low?

Thanks,
Viet

14 psi isn't too low, but I'd be really disappointed to only get that pressue on a new rebuild.

I don't think my pressure drops below 23/24

Mine gets 50-60 psi at cruise and about half of that at idle.

Your idle is just a little low, what oil pump did you use on the rebuild?

Was a new pressure sensor installed with the rebuild? I have found that they can vary a few PSI between manufactures, especially seen at the lower pressures.

All new pressure sensors from GM (Jeff Kopp) for the engine.

My idle is the same as before the rebuild, 600-700 at idle. I bought the regular oil pump from Summit since the Total Seal Rings Tech. guy recommended regular pump and not high volume. Is there a diffrence between high volume and high pressure oil pump? I don't see any high pressure oil pump in the catalog.

Would the Total Seal Rings set up has anything to do with low oil pressure at idle? At crusing speed, the pressure stay between 41-50 psi.
