Default Went to the track today

Got only one run - I did get my sleepy butt there late though (2pm)

This car is slowly going to drive me mad! I am soooo close, I swear i could have finally broke 12s today with streets and I ran a 13.059 @108mph with a 2.0 60'

I need more top-end to get there with streets, but I dont want NOS!!!
I have to come up with a plan..

I ran against a brand new Camaro SS with muffler bypasses, front skinnies, DRs, and a big RPM gauge, dont know what else he had. I got him off the line, all the way down, and beat him by .5, but he was running a trap speed of 113 and coming hard!!!!

I need something like that!

My goal is mid-low 12s in street trim with street tires, just like a Z06 or Cobra SVT.

I guess its the stock D-Ports holding me back a bit too.

Take your passenger seat out!!!! :D You'll get it man, you're right there! I think I ran something like a 13.004 before I finally got my twelve. Are you running the 1.5 or 1.6 rockers right now?

You picked up another .2 sec.....I would not be unhappy with those results and your MPH is getting better too. You will never hit mid-low 12s on street tires.......I sure would like to see you prove me wrong! :yesnod:

You're doing fine with that setup and street tires!

Scorp, you must be reading my mind man!!!! I was just in the shower thinking about it......Maybe I should have stayed with 1.5????

I am going to read what Lingenfelter says in his book about that.
I have the Crane Gold 1.6 RR on intake and exhaust.

I had no wheelspin, track was good today, but it didnt launch at high enough RPM. I have it to where I can get a 2.0 without wheelspin everytime. If I launch at higher RPM, it may cause wheelspin unless I hit it just right. I wonder if a TC would help or hurt me? I was thinking about it, and thought I could launch about the same RPM and method, but the car would rev quicker??? I have never driven with an aftermarket TC, so I dont know, tell me if I am off base.

I think it picked up a little speed right? For now, forget e.t. that'll come later. Work on increasing the speed. E.T. is all traction and getting there quickly. It is nice, but mph is more important(to me)

The convertor might help you out. I'd suggest a stickier tire such as a DR at least if that is the route you plan on going. There is no reason at all this combo can't be near the 11 second zone. Several cars have done it...so it's completely doable.

You're improving anyway! Glad to hear it.

Thanks for the update.

gus if your shooting for mid to low 12s in total street form then you will have to overshoot it i mean build a mid 11 sec car that will run mid to low 12s all day long in street trim you will need 383 or larger engine and that should put you there oh yea get some good heads too like afrs 190 or 195s

I hate to tell ya, but you don't need a 383 or bigger to run low to mid 12's. You don't even need aftermarket heads. My very mild street car runs mid 12's all day long on street tires, and it is a 350. You just need a good combo.

Cork, thats what I was thinking...trying to do it or break it trying!

Anti Venom, share your combo buddy! Youre running an LT1 though, much different than an L98....

My combo is in my Bio. Click on my sig name to check it out if you want. My girlfriend drives this car all the time. Exept for the idle, it drives like a stock car.

I was looking at your combo again and it looks like you have a great set-up. I do believe that you could benefit from a stall convertor. I personally believe they are easier to launch. If you don't flash the convertor hard and spin the tires, you have an RPM range where the convertor is a little "soft". Once you get rolling get into the throttle harder. I've seen 1.8x sixty foot times on 275 street tires. Also, if you don't have a shift kit, your tranny could be holding you back more than you think. I am sure your engine combo can pull 12's if it is running right. Timing? Fuel? Also, where do you shift? Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I think the TC is next, still deciding on range, probably 2800, I want it to be streetable.

I am running stock base timing, Fuel Pressure @50, and shifting at what my Tach says is 5900-6000, but my scanner says different, I am now confused as to which one to believe. I better just get it back on a dyno.

gus the sy 3500 converter is probally what you want from yank converters it hits the tires very lite to help with traction then is super tight on top end for big mph

I took a look at your dyno....have you scanned it while running wot?
Reason I ask is the "sawtooth" pattern on the hp and tq curves look like typical knock retard-it will rapidly pull out timing and then feed it back in, over and over, resulting in the sawtooth look to a hp curve.
Could be false knock or not....
If it's not showing any knock retard then I'd scrutinize your f/a ratio at wot.....

You may also want to check out http://www.edgeracingconverters.com . I've got a 9.5" Street Edge (2800 stall) and am extremely pleased with it's performance so far.
Just completed an LT1 to LT4/Hotcam conversion and am tuning things right now but am hoping to have some times on street tires as soon as the tracks open back up.

Give them a ring and give them your setup. They'll match you up with the right converter.

you can port the D ports, i'm doing just what you ask for. street tires, street trim, no drag race mods. traps right at 112-113mph as well. you just need a good cam, head flow and a bottom end that can take the rpm abuse you throw at it.

gtsyellow you are getting that higher trap speed because of the 6 speed if it was an auto knock off about 2-4 mph

Gus-

IT'S YOUR 60 FOOT TIMES!!!! My CE runs the same mph as yours, but the difference is that I get low 1.90 60' times. Rev it to 4000 and dump the freaking clutch! These cars aren't fragile, they can take a beating man! That 13.0 barrier is just like the 14.0 barrier, only much harder to break through.
