You need to get the hardware to bolt it on. Fits on the top of the B Pillar. The wires are there for the defroster though. Basically, you need a couple of brackets. Try Jeff Kopp or a salvage yard.

What years were the hardtops designed for? Do some years bolt on easy while others need brackets or are they all the same?

From what I understand, the hard tops were made to bolt on to a '89-'96. '86-'88 would need modifications. You say yours is a '90, so there shouldn't be a problem. I have wondered also about how the front edge monts to the windsheild. I thought that the verts used latches instead of bolts at the windsheild.

I thought they latched on in the front in the same way as the softop. It was the rear only that needed the brackets. The pins retract as you move the handle pulling the top down. I don't have one but that's just the impression I had on how they worked. Please let us know if its any different. :skep:

The leading edge of the top bolts to the windshield header or frame by 2 capture bolts already installed your windshield frame. The holes for these bolts are hidden by the sun visors. These bolts must be tightened by a #40 torx bit. A regular length #40 will not be long enough, the special wrinch provided with a hard top/targa top must be used. Ecklers sells this #40 with a cheesy ratchet for $20.00.
I feel for you I went all through this route last year.
Good luck with your project,

He is right... the bolts are already there... do you have instructions? If you have an owners manual, the instructions are in there.

only one thing what do i do to stop the canopy from opening while hard to is on??? :D
Your deck lid wont open if you dont push the "button" :D
So, I didnt bother to remove the fuse, but am careful NOT to press the button. If I do, I will have to remove the hrdtop in order to get the deck lid back down. :smash:

In the owners manual, it says to pull the fuse.
